The Resurgence Issue
Welcome to Issue No. 5
Resurgence most literally means an increase or revival after a period of little activity, popularity, or occurrence. I believe that is how our post-pandemic chapter is beginning. With a resurgence not only of our creativity, but of the work we have been forced to do on ourselves this past year.
From staying inside to staying away from others, it comes as no surprise that we just can’t wait to get out this Summer. Our State of Washington plans to lift its COVID restrictions June 30th, just days before the release of this issue. We begin to see more and more of our neighbors outside without masks. Restaurants begin to fill. Art markets begin to thrive. New friendships begin to arise as the barrier of masks are removed and the fear of spreading begins to dissipate.
In this issue, each featured creative not only talks about their work but how the pandemic has compelled them forward to new creative heights, as well as new creative ventures in the summer ahead. Recognizing this resurgence of energy, for the first time in CREATEUR history we are including an events page towards the back of this issue, to aid you in planning your own journey of resurgence this summer—aiming to bring to light new galleries, artists, markets, and more.
As the summer season begins, so does the second year of CREATEUR’s existence. I am so honored by the support, encouragement, and creativity that has spawned from the pandemic dawning of CREATEUR last summer… something that I believe was born from a need for a different kind of resurgence. One sparked by a need for escapism, and a search for meaning in a crazy world.
Throughout this summer, may we let the meaning of ‘resurgence’ become something different—something along the lines of coming out the other side stronger and more centered, a revival of community kindness, a mindfulness in how we approach our journey through this life, and most of all, a new dawning of what we at CREATEUR could only describe as limitless possibility.
Creatively,
